ELECTION UPDATE | State Issues 1 and Issue 2 being defeated; Obamacare passing
COLUMBUS — It appears state Issues 1 and 2 are going to be defeated, but state Issue 3, the amendment to turn down so-called Obamacare, looks like it will pass.
As of 9:05 p.m., 62 percent of those voting don't want the ages of judges extended. A total of 472,742 are against the age extension, with 293,491 for the extension. The controversial Issue 2, the state referendum on Senate Bill 5, which would restrict collective-bargaining rights for public employees, is being defeated by 63 percent of those who have cast ballots. A no vote would repeal the state law passed in March. The vote total thus far is 515,745 voting no and 294,217 voting yes.
Issue 3, an amendment to have Ohio opt out of so-called Obamacare, is passing with 64 percent of the early vote. A yes vote would give Ohioans the freedom to choose their own health care and health-care coverage. The vote thus far is 508,356 yes and 278,318 no.
