City BOE gets 2 new members

YOUNGSTOWN

Two city school board members retained their seats and two challengers were elected to their first terms, according to unofficial election results.

Newcomer Marcia Haire-Ellis earned the most votes, followed by incumbents Michael Murphy and Richard “Dickie” Atkinson. Challenger Brenda Kimble won the fourth board seat.

They beat incumbent June Drennen and challenger Jackie Adair.

In Boardman, challenger Niklaus Amstutz, who previously served on the board, earned the most votes and incumbent Fred Davis retained his seat on the board. They bested incumbent Kenneth Beraduce and challenger Jim Hruska.

Poland voters kept both incumbents, Robert Shovlin and Elinor Zedaker, and elected one challenger, James Lavorini. Challenger Agatha Van Brocklin received the least votes.
