3 trapped in New York City construction collapse

NEW YORK (AP) — Firefighters and police officers are scrambling to remove debris of a construction collapse where authorities say three workers are trapped.

WABC-TV says its helicopter was over the scene in Brooklyn as one person was pulled out of the rubble today. A second person also was seen being put on a stretcher.

Nearly two dozen first responders were on the site of the three-story building in the Brighton Beach section. Wearing hard hats, they lifted debris piece-by-piece by hand. A blowtorch was deployed to cut through the pile.

The fire department says further details are not immediately available.
