‘Almost, Maine’ at Canfield High
CANFIELD
Canfield High School Players will present “Almost, Maine” at 7 p.m. Thursday and Saturday in the Canfield High School Auditorium, 100 Cardinal Drive. There is no show on Friday. The subject matter is suitable for mature adolescents but is not suitable for young children.
Admission is $8 ($5 for students and seniors) and may be purchased in advance through Tuesday by emailing CHSPlayTickets@gmail. Tickets also will be available at the door. The Canfield Senior Pass will not be valid for this production.
Artist to speak at Butler museum
YOUNGSTOWN
Max Ginsburg, an artist known for his realist paintings that tackle social issues, will be at the Butler Institute of American Art at 1 p.m. Sunday. Ginsburg will speak about the exhibition of his work that is currently on display at the Butler, and also sign copies of his new art book, which is a collection of his paintings from 1956 to the present.
Ohio Idol contest opens registration
Mount VERNON
Ohio Idol, a statewide singing competition for state residents age 12 and older, is accepting contestants. The prize will be $10,000 in cash and a recording contract.
The competition will consist of three rounds of auditions. The first round will be held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center on June 9. During the first round of auditions, everyone who registers will have the opportunity to sing in front a panel of professional judges from the music industry.
The top 100 will be invited to audition in the second round to take place at the Greater Columbus Convention Center on July 7-8. The auditions will be in front of a live audience, and contestants may perform to music.
The live finale will be on the main Celeste Center stage at the Ohio State Fair as part of the fair’s annual concert entertainment line-up. For regulations and to register, go to ohio-idol.com.
