The Salvation Army Mahoning County Area Services will have its 2011 Red Kettle Kick-Off and Breakfast at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Quaker Steak & Lube, 435 Boardman-Poland Road.

Salvation Army’s red kettles will be placed at shopping centers in the Mahoning Valley from Thursday through Christmas Eve.

This year’s campaign goal is $300,000, said Maj. Elijah Kahn, area coordinator for Salvation Army Mahoning County Area Services, who will highlight the needs in the community at the breakfast.

WYTV Meteorologist Jim Loboy is master of ceremonies for the event, which includes a performance by the Salvation Army Brass and an appearance by Captain Care.

Gary Meszaros, Quaker Steak & Lube founder and executive vice president, is 2011 Honorary Campaign chairman. He said he hopes the Quaker Steak & Lube donation inspires others to give and get involved with the Salvation Army.
