“Once upon a time” (8 p.m., abc): “Once Upon a Time” has the looks of a freshman hit. The ambitious fantasy series continues tonight with a flashback to the first meeting between Snow White and Prince Charming (Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas).

“black girls rock!” (8 p.m., bet): Tracee Ellis Ross and Regina King team up to host “Black Girls Rock!” It’s a star-studded gala celebrating exceptional women of color in business, politics, entertainment, sports and community service.

“Page eight” (9 p.m., pbs): “Page Eight” is a new presentation under the “Masterpiece Contemporary” banner. It has Bill Nighy portraying an aging MI5 agent who discovers information about a possible international scandal that could bring down the British government.

“HELL ON WHEELS” (10 p.m., amc): Remember when Westerns ruled prime time? Here’s one that would make Marshal Matt Dillon blush. It’s an edgy, and brutally violent, saga that transports viewers back to post-Civil War America and follows a former Confederate soldier (Anson Mount) who goes on a quest to wreak vengeance on the Union troops who killed his wife. The trail takes him out west, where he finds work with the transcontinental railroad. The cast also includes Common, Dominique McElligott, Colm Meaney and Ben Esler.
