Eagle award
Boy Scouts of America Troop 60, chartered to Westminster Presbyterian Church, Boardman, will confer the Eagle Scout award next Sunday at a court-of-honor ceremony at First Covenant Church, Boardman, to Anthony William Calautti, 17, son of Victor and Susan Calautti of Boardman.
Anthony was a member of Cub Scout Pack 60 for five years at Westminster Presbyterian Church and attained the highest rank of Arrow of Light in 2006. He also received the Heritage and Recruiter awards.
He joined Troop 60 on March 21, 2006, at Westminster. Scoutmaster is Byron Harnishfeger.
For his Eagle Scout service project, he planned, organized and implemented the renovation of the multipurpose Christian education classroom at First Covenant Church in Boardman.
The renovation consisted of waterproofing and painting the walls, installing new shelves for the closet as well as new hardware and realignment of the closet doors. He also installed a new chalk board, curtains, carpet and book shelves for Bibles.
Anthony has held troop positions of senior patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, patrol leader, assistant patrol leader, librarian and spirit awarder.
He earned 27 merit badges and special scout awards of Totin’ Chip, Camp Seven Ranges Pipe Stone Award Fifth Year, United States Gold Heritage Award, Valley Forge Pin, and Gettysburg Historical Hike Patch. He also earned special Troop Awards Sourdough Patch, five-year service pin. He participated in Gettysburg Historic and Valley Forge hikes.
Anthony is a junior at Boardman High School, where he is co-captain of the varsity soccer team. He also runs track, is a member of Italian and Science clubs, marching and symphonic bands, Junior Class Representative, and is with the LINK Crew.
He is a member of First Covenant and its Senior High Youth Group and Church Time Helper. He also received a proclamation from the Boardman Township trustees and is a crew member for Boardman Schools Television Network.
