Lawrence UW more than halfway to goal

NEW CASTLE, PA.

United Way of Lawrence County has raised 57 percent, or about $226,939, of its 2011 campaign goal of $400,000, reported Gayle Young, executive director.

The campaign began with the Day of Caring on Sept. 8 and reached the halfway point in mid- October. “We plan on wrapping up the campaign by year’s end,” Young said.

The highlight of the most recent report-meeting was a report by Joanne Preston, chairwoman of the annual “Taste of the Town” fundraising event, who said a record 360 people attended the event and raised $15,000.
