For the Dogs, a nonprofit animal rescue group, will host a pasta/cavatelli dinner from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Croatian Home, 3200 Vestal Rd.

Events will include a basket drawing, 50-50 drawing and a bake sale.

The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Carryout is available.

Potluck dinner to feature speaker

CANFIELD

During a potluck dinner, Canfield Christian Church, 123 S. Broad St., will host Dr. Tomi Lee Grover at 6 p.m. Friday for training on visitation.

She also will speak at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 13 to represent TraffickStop, an organization dedicated to stopping human trafficking. A dinner will follow with all food provided by the church except pies. Those who are willing to donate pies should sign up in the narthex.

Human trafficking is the buying and selling of human beings.

PSU plans annual spaghetti dinner

SHARON, PA.

Penn State Shenango invites the public to its annual “Scrumptious Shenango Spaghetti Dinner” from noon until 1 p.m. and from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the campus’s Great Hall (in its Sharon Hall building on Penn Avenue downtown). Meals are $5 and include meatballs, salad, bread and butter, cake and a beverage. Tickets may be bought at the door.

All proceeds will go to the Penn State Dance Marathon, referred to as THON, the primary benefactor of the Four Diamonds Fund, which assists children and their families who are being treated at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital. The fund has helped more than 2,000 families since 1972.

Surprise party honors Lavanty

POLAND

A surprise 90th birthday party on July 24 honored Florence Lavanty at Holy Family social Hall.

Hosting the party were her daughters and sons-in-law: Rosanne and Tom Stevens, Dianna and Rich Rosen, and Janet and Neil Guerrieri. Guests included family and friends.

On July 29 she was honored with another surprise party in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, while attending the wedding of her granddaughter.
