Guest speaker

Dr. Tomi Lee Grover will visit Canfield Christian Church, 123 S. Broad St., for training on visitation during a potluck dinner at 6 p.m. Friday.
Grover, who represents TraffickStop, an organization that aims to stop human trafficking, also will speak at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 13 on the subject. A dinner will follow with all food provided by the church, except pies, which members are asked to donate.

Evangelist and missionary David Verzilli will speak at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at Covenant Life Fellowship, 900 W. Liberty St. (Route 304).

Interfaith breakfast

The 26th annual Mayors’ Interfaith Breakfaet is scheduled for Nov. 22 at Mahoning Country Club, 710 E. Liberty St., Girard, by Mahoning Valley Association of Churches.
Guest speaker will be Sister Nancy Dawson of the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown, who teaches World Religions at Youngstown State University. She will speak on the theme, ”Better Together,” which will focus on building positive relationships among people of different faiths.
MVAC’s intern at YSU, Cary Dabney, will introduce the speaker and speak on his work on campus with Interfaith Youth Core.
The cost is $20 a person or $150 for a table of eight.

New Life Ministries

Pastor Lucille Orr, founder of Life Care Ministries in Canfield, will be guest speaker when Youngstown Chapter of Igniting New Life Ministries International, an inter-denominational ministry, meets Nov. 14 at the Georgeanna Parker Activity Center in Boardman Park.
Fellowship will begin at 6 p.m. with the ministry at 6:30.
Installation service

First Baptist Church, 26 E. Church St., will conduct a special service of installation for the new pastor, Dave Burman Jr., at 2 p.m. Sunday.

The Rev. Andrew Gromm, pastor of St.Michael Orthodox Church, 127 Steel St., teaches the Gospel and church history from the ancient Eastern Christian perspective.
“On Earth As In Heaven” is the name of the radio show airing at noon Saturdays on WSOM AM 600.
A Bible study is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays at St. Michael with Father Gromm on the early Christian interpretation of Scripture, which represents the original Apostolic message.

New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St., will sponsor a free seminar next week on the theme, “Faith and Finances: God’s Plan for Our Prosperity in Challenging Times.”
Sessions will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.
Among topics of discussion will be “The Role of Faith in Our Personal Finances,” ”Tithing in Tight Economic Times” and “Being Good Stewards of God’s Resources.”

Lecture series

The Catholic Diocese of Youngstown announces the third annual lecture of the Bishop Benedict C. Franzetta Memorial Lecture Series” at 6 p.m. Nov. 29 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel social hall, 343 Via Mount Carmel.
Bishop George V. Murry will speak on evangelization.
The series, established by Bishop Murry on Feb. 6, 2009, is designed to further the church’s mission of evangelization.
Bishop Franzetta served as auxiliary bishop of Youngstown from Sept. 4, 1980, until his retirement on Sept. 4, 1996. He died Sept. 26, 2006, at the age of 85.
His motto, “Into Your Hands Lord,” was taken from the last words of Christ on the Cross according to Scripture (Luke 23:46).
Cost is $25 per person and includes dinner.
