Program on Civil War POWs at Warren library

A free presentation about the life of prisoners of war at Johnson’s Island Civil War Military Prison is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday at Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. NW.

Speaker will be David R. Bush, professor of anthropology at Heidelberg University, who also directs the Center for Historic and Military Archaeology and has been a national lecturer for the Archaeological Institute of America. He wrote “I Fear I Shall Never Leave This Island: Life in a Civil War Prison.” He provides unique insights into the trials and tribulations of captivity as actually experienced by the men imprisoned at Johnson’s Island.
