Gaming day at Leetonia library
LEETONIA
The Leetonia Community Public Library, 181 Walnut St., will participate in the American Library Association’s National Gaming Day @ Your Library from 11 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Nov. 12.

Gala will benefit John Owsley

Candlelite Knolls will host a benefit gala Nov. 19. All proceeds will benefit John Owsley, who was severely injured in an auto accident and is in need of major home renovations to provide wheelchair accessibility.

Help for grief-stricken at holiday time
CANFIELD
Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes invites the public to a program, “Finding Light and Hope During the Holidays,” to ease the grief of those who have lost a loved one.
The program will begin at 2 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Boardman-Canfield Chapel, 3701 Starr’s Centre Drive.
In the holiday spirit, participants are invited to take a gift in memory of their deceased loved one or drop one off at the Higgins-Reardon Austintown Chapel, 4303 Mahoning Ave. Gifts will be given to those in need at Emmanuel Community Care Center, St. Columba Cathedral and The Dorothy Day House. Tag gifts with size, male, female, child (boy or girl) or toy, etc.

Park Vista to host Metro publisher
YOUNGSTOWN
Park Vista will host Mark Peyko, publisher and owner of the Metro Monthly newspaper, at its November Breakfast Club meeting at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
The group will meet in the gathering room, where a complimentary continental breakfast will be served. Reservations are required; call 330-746-2944, ext. 1552.
Peyko’s presentation will highlight the local television show “Homeplate,” which features locally owned restaurants, business, sports fitness, culture, history and urban exploration. The show is co-produced by Metro Monthly and airs at 7 a.m. Saturday on WYTV-33 and at 11:30 a.m. Sunday on MyYTV.
‘Pretty Boy’ Floyd
CANFIELD
Canfield Historical Society will conclude its fall lecture series with a visit from Atty. Timothy R. Brookes, of East Liverpool, who will discuss “Pretty Boy” Floyd, a bank robber who was killed near East Liverpool.
The free lecture will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Bond House, 44 W. Main St. It will include a question-and-answer period and refreshments, and it is appropriate for all ages.
