Benjamin Streb, 17, of Canfield appeared Wednesday in Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center and pleaded not guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide.
If found guilty, he could face incarceration in the Department of Youth Services until he is 21.
The charges stem from a June 16 accident on Leffing-well Road in which Streb’s passenger, 17-year-old Kevin Kolesar of Canfield, was killed after the vehicle veered off the road, hit a tree and rolled several times.
Streb’s license has been suspended. No pretrial date has been set.
Suspicious car fire

Township fire investigators have ruled a Thursday morning car fire suspicious. Firefighters were called to the driveway of an apartment complex at 127 Shields Road around 4 a.m. when a resident reported a white Pontiac Grand Prix on fire, reports state.
Fire investigators said the front and back ends of the car were burned with no damage in the middle, and it appeared that some type of fluid was along the passenger door. Officials were unable to make contact with the car’s owner and left a courtesy notice at the owner’s listed address in Youngstown.

The Christian Donor Network will host a networking mixer for business professionals from 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 17 at McDonough Museum of Art, 410 Wick Ave.
The event aims to educate, and stress the importance of organ donation and celebrate living donors, recipients and their supporters. Ella Peterson, a donor recipient, and others will share their stories.
The Center for Community Empowerment, in partnership with LifeBanc, is dedicated to raising funds and awareness of organ donation and sharing resources with families who need support during surgical procedures.
The event is part of National Donor Sabbath Month, which encourages faith-based leaders to raise awareness about the need for organ, eye and tissue donors within their diverse communities.
Mixer tickets are $35. Donations of $50 and more will receive a copy of Peterson’s newly released CD “Standing on a Promise.” Contributions are tax-deductible. Call 330-740-1982.
Teen cited at BHS

A 16-year-old Boardman High School student was issued citations Wednesday for possession of tobacco while under age 18 and possession of marijuana on school grounds. Police said an assistant principal noticed the student and the student’s 18-year-old friend smelled of marijuana.
School officials searched the teen’s vehicle and found a plastic bag of suspected marijuana and a cigar. The student and his friend, who was not cited for marijuana possession, told the principal they smoked before coming to school. The case was referred to juvenile court.
Houston arrest

A city man is in Mahoning County jail on a $7 million bond after being arrested in Houston for a murder committed here in October. Anthony J. White, 29, of Youngstown, was wanted for the murder of 29-year-old Teresa Stillwagon and the wounding of another man on the South Side. Police say White began shooting into a crowd with an assault rifle during an argument with another man. Part of the incident was captured on video and collected as evidence by police.
