Boardman student cited for possession at school

BOARDMAN

A 16-year-old Boardman High School student was issued citations Wednesday for possession of tobacco while under age 18 and possession of marijuana on school grounds.

Police said an assistant principal noticed the student and the student’s 18-year-old friend smelled of marijuana.

School officials searched the teen’s vehicle and found a plastic bag of suspected marijuana and a cigar.

The student and his friend, who was not cited for marijuana possession, told the principal they smoked before coming to school. The case was referred to juvenile court.
