Texas mom to plead guilty in death of son in NH
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — A Texas woman accused of killing her 6-year-old son in New Hampshire and disposing of his body in rural Maine is heading to court to plead guilty.
Forty-two-year-old Julianne McCrery is charged with second-degree murder in the death of her son, Camden Hughes. She’s due to make the plea in court this morning.
Her deal calls for a sentence of 45 years to life in prison.
The discovery of Camden’s body in May under a blanket on a dirt road launched a nationwide effort to identify him. Even as that was under way, McCrery called her son’s Texas school daily to report him absent.
A medical examiner says Camden died of asphyxiation. The mother and son had stayed in a New Hampshire motel the weekend before his body was discovered.
