The Canfield Soccer Club accepted a $500 donation, to be used in the club’s Recreational League, from Sweeney Chevrolet Oct. 21.
On hand to accept the donations were Jeff Joseph, president of Canfield Soccer Club, Brian Governor, vice president of Canfield Soccer Club’s Recreational League and Denise Joseph, Canfield Soccer Club secretary.
The donation from the dealership also included soccer equipment for the Recreational League. Ten equipment packages were donated with each package consisting of one large mesh bag, one regulation size soccer ball, 10 flat cones, 10 scrimmage vests and 15 Chevy Youth Soccer branded T-shirts.
The money and equipment were donated through the 2011 Chevy Youth Soccer Program, which gave Sweeney Chevrolet the ability to choose the local recipient.
“This program is a demonstration of Sweeney’s commitment to being involved in the community,” said David Slagle, Sweeney Chevrolet salesman.
The Canfield Soccer Club also received a Sweeney Chevrolet/Chevy Youth Soccer banner to be displayed at the soccer fields.
