Man goes to trial for 'tweet' threat that closed Pa. campus

MONACA, Pa. (AP) — A former student will stand trial on terroristic threat and disorderly conduct charges for Twitter comments referencing the 2007 Virginia Tech shooting massacre that prompted a Penn State satellite campus to shut down last month.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review says a district judge in Beaver County on today found there was enough evidence for 21-year-old Michael Mollett to stand trial.

Authorities say Mollett posted the tweet that prompted campus police to shut down Penn State-Beaver on Oct. 21.

Mollett had played basketball for the school before campus police charged him with indecent assault and defiant trespass stemming from an incident involving a female student on September 19.

Mollett has also been ordered to stand trial on those charges.
