YSU Rookery Radio wins $16K in software

YOUNGSTOWN — Rookery Radio, the student-run, online radio station launched earlier this year at Youngstown State University won about $16,000 worth of software and services at the National College Media Convention in Orlando, Fla.

The station won the grand prize in the College Broadcasters Inc.-Spacial contest.

RookeryRadio.com started last spring and now includes about 50 students from different areas of study.

It’s on air from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday, and automated the rest of the time. Each student gets a two-hour shift.
