Toledo company recalls glass bowls because of breakage hazard

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio company is recalling glass bowls because of the risk that someone could get cut.

Libbey Glass of Toledo says the “Fantasy” bowls were sold at Libbey Outlet stores, Home Outfitters and to commercial customers for use in foodservice establishments nationwide from August 2010 through September 2011.

The bowls can break from impact or from sudden temperature changes, posing a cutting hazard. Libbey has received one report of a glass bowl breaking while being washed in a commercial dishwasher, though no injuries were reported.

The 8.5-ounce bowls made of clear, colorless glass were manufactured in China. They’re lopsided, with one side taller than the other. Nearly 17,000 were sold in the U.S.
