Pizza shop break-in in New Middletown

Staff report

NEW MIDDLETOWN

Village police are investigating a break-in at Cocca’s Pizza on Main Street. The pizza shop’s alarm went off about 4:25 a.m. Tuesday and when police arrived they found the window broken.

Police Chief Vincent D’Egidio said security footage showed a suspect wearing all black climbing in through the window, rifling through the cash drawers and then fleeing the same way, closing the window behind him. No cash was taken, the chief said.

D’Egidio said it’s “hard to say” if the break-in is at all related to similar situations in Boardman.

On Oct. 18, Boardman police responded to break-ins at Pizza Joe’s and Cocca’s Pizza, both on Market Street
