Look at what we’re driving

Look at what we’re driving

Ohio voters should go take a walk.

That’s right, before going to the polls Tuesday, take a walk through the faculty parking lots at our universities and local schools. Walk through the employee parking lots at the hospitals, the police and fire stations, and the government administration offices. Last, we should take a walk in our own driveways.

We Americans love our right to choose and our right to complain.

We will jump into our foreign cars and drive to the mall or dollar store, and then complain that we can’t find anything made in America. If we state that our foreign car is made in the U.S. we should add “by nonunion workers, who make less money, and receive fewer benefits, and that corporate profits go out of the U.S.”

An automobile is a big-ticket item and one in which we still have a choice to buy “Union Made in America.”

If you go to a rally — any rally — wouldn’t it be fair to ask, “Would you show me the keys to the vehicle you drive?”

Some tips on student debt

I read the story in Sunday’s paper about student debt, and there does seem to be a lot of debt

There are jobs you can work and be paid and once a year they make a payment or excuse part of your loan. They can be found through various Web searches, including on Wikihow. They include teachers corps and jobs for doctors.

My suggestion would be to find an area of the country that would need workers and contact an employer that might be willing to make a yearly payment on your student loan debt. These could be rural areas, but there is usually a larger city nearby, and you can always fly to a big city for a vacation. Do this while you are young, before you get housing loans and children.

Also if you have a parent or grandparent that gives you money for birthdays and holidays, ask them to make a payment on your student loan principal instead.
