Autopsy pending in creek body discovery

IRWIN, Pa. (AP) — An autopsy is planned for the body of a man found dead in a western Pennsylvania creek but police say the death doesn’t appear suspicious.

Officials say the body of a man in his 40s was found in a creek Wednesday by landscapers working just off U.S. Route 30 near the Irwin exit of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

North Huntingdon Township police Chief Michael Daugherty tells the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review foul play doesn’t appear to have played a role but a final determination will be made after the autopsy. Daugherty says the man’s head was in the water.

Investigators have not released the man’s name.
