POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Liberty and Hubbard:

GIRARD

Oct. 27

Attempted burglary: A home’s side door was found open in the 300 block of East Prospect Street.

Theft: A North St. Clair Avenue man reported the theft of his wallet and a $95 payroll check.

Fraud: An East Liberty Street man said a woman withdrew $100 from his account without authorization.

Identity fraud: A Main Street man told officers a collection agency called stating he owed $440 of a bill from an address in which he never lived.

Domestic violence: A 16-year-old Girard boy was charged with the crime after police responded to a situation at a South Market Street residence and said they saw the teen wrestle with his mother and push her into a wall during an argument.

Oct. 28

Assaults: Police responded to a fight in the 1000 block of Patricia Drive, where one person reported having been struck in the face and another complained of an injured finger.

Theft: A $100 global-positioning-system unit was removed from a vehicle parked in the 800 block of Woodlawn Avenue.

Theft: A Beechwood Drive woman reported her daughter’s $100, 10-speed bicycle missing.

Oct. 29

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a concession stand near Highland Avenue, though it appeared nothing was stolen.

Arrest: A traffic stop on U.S. Route 422 resulted in the arrest of 29-year-old Anthony G. Worthey II, 3407 Northwest Ave., Warren, on charges of drug possession and driving under suspension. A pill was concealed beneath an ash tray, a report said.

Arrest: Police charged Terry R. Johnson, 50, of 52 W. Liberty St., Girard, with public indecency and voyeurism after a neighbor said she had noticed someone engaged in sexually inappropriate conduct while peering in her window.

Oct. 30

Criminal mischief: Roughly $500 worth of lawn damage was done in the 100 block of Crumlin Avenue.

Harassment: A Maple Avenue man said his former girlfriend made and left 14 unwanted calls and text messages.

Oct. 31

Harassment: A Church Hill Road woman reported getting such calls.

Attempted burglary/assault: A Plymouth Avenue woman told police two men age 20 to 25 were on her front porch and that one of the men pushed her to the ground after she confronted them. A screen to a door had been cut, police said.

LIBERTY

Oct. 26

Burglary: Occurred in the 4700 block of Logan Arms Drive through a rear door. Among items taken were a $7,000 wedding ring, four men’s wristwatches and a baseball-card collection, for an estimated $9,500 loss.

Theft: A woman told police her elderly mother, of Richards Drive, had jewelry and money stolen from her.

Aggravated menacing: Police answering a fight call in the 2900 block of Oakland Avenue confiscated an assault rifle from a nearby residence after a woman said that a man had pointed a firearm at her.

Burglary: Authorities charged 20-year-old Patrick D. Howard, 3016 Northgate Road, Liberty, with burglary, criminal damaging and violating a protection order after responding to a burglary at a nearby apartment and saying they found Howard hiding under a bed. The resident said she had a protection order against Howard, who she alleged also had destroyed a coffee table and damaged two TVs in her home.

Oct. 27

Criminal damaging: Someone spray-painted an exterior wall of a building in the 4500 block of Belmont Avenue, causing about $300 in damage.

Arrest: Struthers police turned 46-year-old Richard Petrosky over to township authorities. Petrosky, of 266 Helena Drive, Struthers, was wanted on a charge of failing to appear in court.

Assault: Police picked up 21-year-old Lamar Teague of Youngstown in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue. He was wanted on a simple-assault charge.

Oct. 28

Theft: Boardman police handed 28-year-old Jason T. Sobnosky, 270 Washington Blvd., Boardman, to township authorities. He was wanted on a warrant.

Breaking and entering: Someone pried open a rear door and broke into PDQ Car Wash Inc., 1951 Church Hill Road. Stolen were an air compressor, a toolbox and change.

Theft: The owner of a Trumbull Court apartment complex reported a former employee took about $746 worth of rent money without permission, though $625 of it was returned.

Oct. 29

Arrest: Police responded to a disturbance on Motor Inn Drive before charging 31-year-old Dominic C. Mshar Jr., 1600 Motor Inn Drive, with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Officers had to use a stun gun to get an intoxicated and belligerent Mshar to comply, a report said.

Harassment: A Youngstown-Hubbard Road woman said she received five unwanted sexually-suggestive calls.

Oct. 30

Theft: A man’s wallet was stolen from a vehicle in the 400 block of Aurora Drive.

Arrests: Aaron S. Cousin, 44, of 14 Holly Drive, Girard, was charged with aggravated menacing, identity theft and failure to pay court-ordered child support, and 41-year-old Kathleen E. Barganier-Cousin, same address, was issued a summons accusing her of obstructing justice. Barganier-Cousin refused to provide the name of Cousin, who was wanted on warrants and who, police said, also had used another person’s identification and made an implied threat against an officer.

Fight: Officers responded to a fight between two groups of 10 to 12 people on Motor Inn Drive who had been shoving one another before police used pepper spray to disperse the combatants.

Theft: A wallet was removed from a car on Aurora Drive.

HUBBARD

Oct. 26

Menacing: A West Liberty Street man said a tenant has been placing trash on his vehicle and other residents’ cars.

Damage: Officers received a complaint about people driving through and damaging a piece of property in the 300 block of Stewart Avenue.

Theft: Money was stolen from a vehicle in the 800 block of West Liberty Street.

Domestic violence: A charge was pending against a man after his girlfriend, of Fairchild Drive, alleged he had threatened to kill her.

Menacing: A Redwood Drive man said a business owner made threatening calls to him.

Oct. 27

Harassment: A Jackson Street woman reported getting such calls.

Recovered property: A license plate belonging to a Hubbard man was found on a road in Austintown.

Oct. 28

Theft: A woman in the 1100 block of Fairchild Drive filed a report.

Theft: A man moving from a home in the 700 block of Elmwood Drive reported various items missing.

Oct. 29

Theft: A man discovered a wedding ring missing from his residence in the 200 block of Westview Avenue.
