Ohio Dem lobbies for GOP's congressional redistricting plan
CLEVELAND (AP) — An Ohio congressman facing a primary fight against a fellow Democrat is lobbying for a GOP redistricting plan.
Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Cleveland thinks he can win in the district proposed by Republicans. The plan would pit him against congresswoman Marcy Kaptur of Toledo.
Kucinich’s campaign has made automated calls to voters asking them to press state lawmakers to back the GOP plan. Republicans are reviewing the plan with a goal of avoiding a Democratic-led ballot challenge.
According to The Plain Dealer, Kucinich’s campaign has placed robo-calls targeting lawmakers including Democrats Nickie Antonio of Lakewood and Mike Foley of Cleveland. The two who opposed the GOP plan say they also got personal calls from Kucinich.
Kucinich hasn’t commented. A message was left Tuesday at his campaign office.
