Six-month suspension proposed for ex-Ohio AG

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A proposal would suspend the law license of former Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann for six months but allow him to keep practicing law during that time anyway.

Dann, ousted in a scandal three years, agreed to the punishment with lawyers representing the disciplinary wing of the Ohio Supreme Court.

Dann testifies at a disciplinary hearing Thursday. A court board and the Supreme Court itself could accept or reject the recommended punishment.

Dann, a Democrat, resigned in 2008 amidst a sexual harassment scandal, then pleaded guilty in 2010 to improperly paying two aides from political and office accounts and failing to disclose campaign expenses.

Dann’s attorney Alvin Mathews said Tuesday he’s pleased the court’s Disciplinary Counsel agreed to the recommended punishment.
