A former township Burger King has a potentially bright future with another national fast-food chain, said James Sabatine Jr.

Sabatine, a member of Trilogy Realty LLC in Boardman, said he purchased the property for about $330,000 from Lewis Realty about a month ago.

He said the property, which is just off Interstate 80, at state Route 46 and Clarkins Drive, is prime real estate that’s already attracted several national food chains.

“I’ve already had a lot of activity and interest on it,” Sabatine said. “It’s a tremendous location because when you get off the freeway, you drive straight and you’re on the site.”

Sabatine said he’s spoken with representatives from Chick-fil-A, Steak ‘n Shake, Sonic, White Castle and Jib Jab Hot Dog Shoppe.

“This is one of the best sites in that whole market,” he said. “We want to lease it ... to someone who is an experienced restaurant owner.”

Zoning Inspector Darren Crivelli said no permits have been filed for new business at the site yet.

Sabatine said the Burger King closed when the previous owners decided not to remodel.

Spence Group Services Inc. owns Burger King franchises in Ohio, Illinois and Pennsylvania.

Calls to Spence Group weren’t returned Monday afternoon.

Sabatine said the building, which was built in 1990, is still in good condition. All it needs is a new tenant.

“All the equipment, everything they need to operate, is in there,” he said. “The sooner we can lease, the better.”
