HOWLAND
Heather Wells, 21, daughter of Andrea and Dennis Wells of Howland, was recently crowned Miss Miami Valley 2012 in Dayton at the Montgomery County Fair.
The title has earned her the opportunity to compete for the title of Miss Ohio in June 2012. The Miss Miami Scholarship program is an official preliminary to the Miss Ohio and Miss America pageants.
Wells, a 2007 Howland High graduate and a senior at Kent State University majoring in broadcast journalism, won a $700 scholarship with her title.
She is the founder of Operation S.O.S. (Supply Our Soldiers), a nonprofit organization dedicated to collecting supplies to make care packages to send to U.S. troops. She also is an anchor and feature reporter for KSU’s TV2 News and a member of Delta Zeta sorority. Her platform is 4-H awareness.
Wells competed last June in the Miss Ohio pageant after having won the title of Miss Maumee Valley 2011.
