North Side man recovering from gunshot wound

YOUNGSTOWN — A 22-year-old Saranac Avenue man is recovering in St. Elizabeth Health Center after being shot in the stomach on the North Side early Monday morning.

The man was taken to the hospital by a relative, but was in surgery and unable to give police details concerning the shooting.

The victim’s brother told police he was in bed at the family home on Saranac when he heard about 30 gunshots and went outside to find his brother on the ground shot in the stomach. He said the victim said “I’m hit” and asked for help.

Another family member told police she saw several people jump from nearby bushes when the shots were fired and run away after the shooting. No arrests have been made.
