Eagle award
Robert McKay, 14, of Cortland, son of Judge W. Wyatt McKay of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court and Andrea McKay, received his Eagle Scout award, Boy Scouting’s highest honor, at a court-of- honor ceremony earlier this month at Bazetta Christian Church. Steve Brown is scoutmaster of Troop 50.
Robert joined the troop in March 2007 and has had the offices of senior patrol leader, patrol leader, assistant patrol leader and troop guide.
He has earned 62 merit badges and earned the Arrow of Light.
For his Eagle Scout service project, he planned, supervised, and implemented 21 wren bird houses and distributed them to various churches, schools, hospitals, nursing homes, libraries and other organizations throughout Trumbull County.
Robert is a freshman at Lakeview High School, Cortland, where he is a member of the Drama and Senior Beta clubs.
He also is a member of St. Robert’s Church, Cortland, and its youth group.
LaWYERS
Graduated
Matthew P. Waigand of Boardman, graduated magna cum laude from the University of Toledo College of Law earlier this month. He is a member of the school’s Law Review publication and will be published in the college’s next issue.
Waigand is a 2004 graduate of Canfield High School and a 2008 graduate of the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Fla.
He will be working as an attorney for the firm of McHugh and McCarthy in Sylvania, Ohio.
His parents are Paul and Mary Ann Waigand of Boardman.
