Billy Blanks class set for Lordstown

Billy Blanks, creator and master of Tae Bo fitness, is coming to Lordstown High School at 9 a.m. June 5 to conduct a fitness event. Registration is at 8 a.m. He will sign autographs, take photos and teach a class.

The event will benefit the YWCA Warren’s STEP UP Program, which helps young women living in poverty or in danger of living in poverty by providing them with resources to help them enter the work force and become self-sufficient.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at Tenacity Fitness, 1502 Salt Springs Road, Lordstown; the YWCA Warren, 375 North Park Ave.; or online at www.tenacityfitstudio.com.

Volunteers needed for Pride event

Volunteers are needed to participate in the Mahoning Valley Pride event, pass out Equality Ohio materials, or engage in creative acts of raising awareness from noon to 7 p.m. June 12 at the B&O Banquet Center & Park, 530 Mahoning Ave.

Equality Ohio is headquartered in Columbus. According to its website, part of its mission is to serve as an advocate and champion for fair treatment and equal opportunity for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender citizens, and facilitate “a greater understanding of our common humanity through education and outreach efforts.”

Car show to benefit AWL, food panty

The Eastwood Classic Benefit Car Show, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, will be in the parking lot adjacent to Eastwood Field at the Eastwood Mall complex to benefit the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County and Second Harvest Food Bank.

The car show features a craft show, performance by the Beatles tribute band Abbey Road and a kids’ zone with inflatables and face-painting.

Cost is $6 in advance and $9 at the gate. It is free to veterans with proper ID, anyone in military uniform and children under age 12.
