SALEM

Rain was apparently a factor in a wreck during a race Friday as Quaker City Motorsports Park launched its big auto racing weekend.

According to one account, a car lost control, hit the wall, and rolled over several times after rain cut traction on the track.

The driver was taken away in an ambulance but there was no immediate word late Friday on his identity or condition.

The park reopened last Saturday under the new ownership of Norm Fox.

It has undergone renovations.
