For one morning, St. Christine School doubled the size of its student body.

For the school’s Grandparent’s Day on May 13, grandmas and grandpas were invited to follow the schedule of their St. Christine student and see what the school has to offer.

The grandparents had a chance to look through school books and class projects, and there were also activities throughout the school to display the St. Christine’s experience. Each family had the chance to attend mass together, participate in a raffle, take a commemorative photo, browse a small art show and taste recipes featured in the fifth-grade cookbook.

Parent volunteer Jody Abrigg helped plan the event.

“This is our sixth year of Grandparent’s Day, and we hope it gives the opportunity for our students to show the pride they have in their school and the work they do here. It’s also a great way to show family they’re appreciated,” Abrigg observed.

After touring the school and observing classes, the families were welcomed into Guttman Hall for lunch. During the lunch, many of the guests considered the importance of family.

Trish Baker took a long drive from Johnstown, Ohio, to spend some time with her granddaughter, Maureen.

“I drove three hours to get here, but I wouldn’t have missed it for the world,” Baker shared.

Student Sterling Roberts was honored to welcome all his grandparents, Sally and Steve Almasy and Marion Roberts.

Marion Roberts said she is proud to get both sides of Sterling’s family together.

“Unfortunately, my grandkids never got to know my husband – their grandfather. It’s very important to me that we’re all together to support Sterling,” Roberts shared.
