A liberal policy group says it has dropped a lawsuit that alleged it was unreasonable for officials to lock the Ohio Statehouse doors when crowds protested a bill limiting the union rights of public employees.

ProgressOhio, the Ohio Federation of Teachers, Democratic state Rep. Teresa Fedor of Toledo and several residents filed the suit in February. The action came in the heat of a protest during which thousands of pro-labor demonstrators were barred from entering the Statehouse. Officials had said they were concerned about safety. The bill, since signed into law, restricts the bargaining abilities of 350,000 union members.

.ized public workers.

ProgressOhio Executive Director Brian Rothenberg said Friday the suit was dismissed in a way that allows the group to refile if access problems arise again in the future.
