The Beaver Local School District will reopen the open-enrollment process for kindergarten and fourth through seventh grades for the 2011-12 school year.

Applications may be picked up between 9 and 11 a.m. and between 1 and 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the board of education office, 13093 State Route 7, Lisbon. No applications for open enrollment will be mailed. Completed applications must be returned to the BOE office by 2 p.m. June 17.

All-State Choir

Dominic Iudiciani, a senior at Poland Seminary High School, recently returned from Cincinnati where he performed at the Ohio Music Educators’ Association Conference in the All-State Choir.

Students from all over the state were chosen from auditions they submitted after being nominated by their choir directors. There were more than 1,000 applicants from which the 160-member choir ensemble ultimately was selected.

Iudiciani performs with the Seminary Singers at his high school and is a member of the Madrigal Singing group there. He also sings with the Poland Presbyterian Chancel Choir and has performed at banquets and weddings. He is the son of Pat and Theresa Iudiciani.

UNIVERSITY OF AKRON

Brittany Lowe of Youngstown has accepted membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She will be honored during an induction convocation this fall at the University of Akron.

HAIR EXPERTS BARBER SCHOOL, Canal Winchester, Ohio

Korday R. Allison, son of Jim and Kathy J. Allison-Kelly, graduated from the Hair Experts Barber School, a nationally accredited school affiliated with Ohio’s largest cosmetology school, the Ohio State School of Cosmetology. Allison completed an intensive program that consists of personalized instruction in theoretical and practical aspects of barber styling. The program included advanced training in precision haircutting, razor haircutting, facial shaving, hair coloring, permanent waving and barber law.

OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY

Ricardo Bush of Campbell has accepted membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and will be honored this fall during an induction convocation at Ohio State. NSCS is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is the nation’s only interdisciplinary honors organization for first- and second-year college students. Membership is by invitation only, based on grade-point average and class standing. NSCS has more than 750,000 lifetime members and 270 chapters in 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

WEST VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY, Morgantown

Dominic Mirto, son of Skip and Kathy Mirto of Canfield, has become a member of Phi Sigman Theta National Honor Society at West Virginia University. Phi Sigma Theta is a national honor society dedicated to recognizing and rewarding academic achievement in undergraduate institutions of higher learning.
