Plenty of glitz and glamour were on display at Canfield High School May 14 as juniors and seniors took part in the annual Prom Promenade before heading off to their Moroccan Memories Prom at Antone’s.

As love songs played in the background, each couple strolled across the stage at the high school and were announced by emcee Nancy Dove to an auditorium filled with cheering spectators. The students paused under an arch of balloons to much applause and flashbulbs.

According to organizers Traci DeCapua and Ellen Bennett, Canfield High School PTO co-chairs, the event is staged each year for families, friends, fellow students and members of the community to come out and check out the dresses and cheer on the kids.

“It’s a fun event for the kids and a chance for everyone to see them all dressed up and glamorous,” DeCapua said.

The event attracts hundreds of people and has become a tradition.

“I have been coming to the Prom Promenade since I was a little girl to see the dresses. My mom always brought me,” said senior Gia Velasquez, who had her turn on stage.
