Equations winners

Trumbull County Educational Service Center hosted an Equations competition for about 250 students in grades 5-8. Equations is a comprehensive mathematics game that combines problem-solving interaction with strategy, bluffing and intrigue. Each team has three to five students. The top three team winners were:

Fifth-Grade Division: Logan Misik, Tommy McNichol and Sawyer Stubrich, Hubbard, first place; Tyler Aikins, Sarah Bacak, Taylor DeProfio and Michael Witt, Weathersfield, second; and Cassie Shope, Steven Pavlik, Preston Sheets, Braxton Caldwell and Jacob Moats, third.

Sixth-Grade Division: Anna Bodo, Danny Linebaugh and Brook Testa, Weathersfield, first; Sidney Drake, Jordyn Cline, Joey Urso and Vince Dragich, Newton Falls, second; and Kaitlyn Conway, Caitlyn Wood and Kira Beckinger, Newton Falls, third.

Seventh/Eighth-Grade Division: Allison Beckinger, Debra Fabian and Firaus Odeh, LEAD Academy, first; Alexis Caroline, Lydia Garris, Jarrod Morrison and Nick Rule, Weathersfield, and Lauren Kachurik, Claire Rowlands, Addie Becker, Gabe Olejnik and Ashley Frasca, Lakeview, tie for second; Gina Cerimele, Donald Fenstemaker, Max Hoover, Alex Cope and Joey Jaros, LaBrae, third.
