Cucumbers sold at Giant Eagle are recalled

Staff report

PITTSBURGH

Fresh cucumber supplier C.W. Hendrix Farms Inc. of Boca Raton, Fla., has voluntarily recalled fresh cucumbers distributed from its facility between May 6 and 13, due to possible salmonella contamination.

Giant Eagle is one of a number of retailers impacted by the recall. To date Giant Eagle has received no reports of customer illness. While it is likely that the potentially impacted product has already been eaten by customers, Giant Eagle is notifying customers as a precaution. Additionally, none of the cucumbers currently available in stores are affected by the recall.

Customers who have previously purchased the affected product should dispose of it or return it to their local Giant Eagle where they will receive a refund.
