Canfield students earn rifle shooting honors

Two Canfield High School students recently received awards at the Vienna Cougars’ Junior Rifle Team Award Night for indoor competitions held 2010-2011, including league, regional and national competitions.
Senior Ryan Hazlett and junior Bill Magnuson both shoot 22-caliber Olympic-style rifles and air rifles competitively.
Hazlett received the following awards:
High Average Award -Cougar’s Team - NEO Jr Rifle League, High Standing Position Award - Cougar’s Team – NEO Jr Rifle League, State Champion – Male – 2011 Ohio State Jr. Olympic Championships, First Place Team Match Winners – State Championship Four-Man Team, second Place - Air Rifle – State Championship, First Place State Championship Team – Air Rifle, Silver Medal – USA Shooting Jr Olympics, Bronze Medal – USA Shooting Jr Olympics - Air Rifle, First Place Jr. Team Winners – Four- position National Jr Sectional, Silver Medal – Three-Position National Jr. Sectional and First Place Team Match Winner – Three-Position National Jr. Sectional. Magnuson earned:
