ABWA hears about studying abroad

Youngstown State University senior Melissa Dobstaff was guest speaker at the Youngstown Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association monthly meeting April 11 at Rusty’s Restaurant in Boardman.

During the meeting, Dobstaff, who is majoring in international business with a minor in Spanish, spoke about the Study Abroad program through the YSU Center for International Studies Department and her mentor, Assistant Director for Study Abroad and Exchange Programs, Annette El-Hayek.

She also highlighted her own experiences and lessons learned with details of her semesters in Barcelona and London.

Dobstaff will travel to China this summer with the YSU Williamson College of Business.

“Traveling and studying abroad has been the best choice I ever made,” she explained. “This kind of experience is perfect preparation for a career in international business, or any career, really.”

Dobstaff said if she could, she would “study abroad” all semesters. She is looking for a career with a business that offers opportunities to travel abroad.

Hostess for the event was ABWA President Cathy Pokrivnak.

The Youngstown Charter Chapter of ABWA was founded in 1954. Over the past 50 years this chapter, along with its sister chapters in the tri-county area, the chapter has raised and donated over a half a million dollars to local college students.
