2 pedestrians killed this evening in Liberty

LIBERTY

Two pedestrians are dead after they were struck by a vehicle this evening.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed that two people were hit by a vehicle around 5:30 p.m. on Belmont Avenue near Liberty Street.

Details about the victims aren’t known at this time, but the OSHP said they plan to issue a news release later this evening.

Paul Hartman, a manager at the Wendy’s restaurant located at that intersection, said he heard the accident as he was handing an order to a customer at the drive-thru.

Hartman said fire and CPR training kicked in and he ran to help.

“I heard it and told the other manager I saw someone get hit by a car and I left the building. I administered CPR,” he said.

The store manager said he continued CPR on the victims until Liberty fire personnel arrived to take over.
