PBS special tonight features Youngstown
YOUNGSTOWN
A documentary that examines Youngstown’s plan to shrink its infrastructure to a more-manageable size will air at 9:30 tonight on Western Reserve PBS (WNEO 45.1).
It will repeat at 2 a.m. Saturday.
Titled “A Blueprint America Report: The Incredible Shrinking City,” the hourlong program is part of “Need to Know,” a PBS news program.
Blueprint America is a PBS project that examines America’s infrastructure and cities.
A Blueprint America film crew came to Youngstown in March to film the episode.
Blueprint America is examining older cities such as Youngstown as they reorganize and shrink themselves to better deliver services such as transportation, electricity and housing.
The city’s landmark efforts to shrink its urban footprint were first spelled out in the much-publicized Youngstown 2010 Plan.
