Area schools recognized for recycling phone books


YOUNGSTOWN

Mahoning County commissioners, their recycling division, and AT&T recognized six local schools Thursday for recycling 10,323 pounds of outdated telephone directories.

The schools, listed in first through sixth place, were: Damascus Elementary School, 3,424 pounds; Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School, 2,140 pounds; Springfield Elementary School, 1,712 pounds; Poland Union Elementary School, 1,626 pounds; Canfield Village Middle School, 856 pounds; and Volney Rogers Middle School, 565 pounds.
