Blagojevich attorneys seek mistrial — again

CHICAGO (AP) — Attorneys for ousted Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich have asked for a mistrial — again.

In a filing Thursday, the defense attorneys cited testimony given a day earlier by Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. in asking for the mistrial.

Jackson testified that his wife didn’t get a promised appointment to head the Illinois Lottery after Jackson refused to give Blagojevich a $25,000 campaign donation.

Defense attorneys contend that testimony was “overly prejudicial.”

Blagojevich’s attorneys also asked the judge for a mistrial Monday, arguing that the government blocked Blagojevich’s right to confront his accusers by making hundreds of objections during defense cross-examinations.

Blagojevich has denied any wrongdoing.
