Akron Children’s on lists for best hospitals

Akron Children’s Hospital has been ranked in four of U.S. News Media Group’s annual lists of Best Children’s Hospitals.

Akron ranked 31st nationally in pediatric orthopedics, 40th in pediatric pulmonology, 42nd in pediatric nephrology and 48th in neonatology.

Akron Children’s Hospital Beeghly Campus is at 6505 Market St., Boardman.

“We have made great strides in quality and outcome measures,” said Shawn Lyden, Akron’s executive vice president. “Much of that comes from our willingness to share data and collaborate with Ohio’s seven other children’s hospitals, as well as children’s hospitals across the country.”

The rankings recognize the top 50 children’s hospitals in 10 specialties: cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology, neonatology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology and urology.
