11-year-old arrested

BOARDMAN

Police arrested an 11-year-old township boy after landscape bricks were thrown through windows at West Boulevard Elementary School. The boy’s father brought him to the police station, where the child was booked on criminal-damaging charges Tuesday. Police released the boy into his father’s custody.

Murder indictment

WARREN

A Trumbull County grand jury has indicted Ronald J. Pugh Jr., 26, of East Philadelphia Avenue, Youngstown, on a charge of murder in the May 15 shooting death of DeAngelo McCoy, 24, of Third Street Southwest.

If convicted, he could be sentenced to life in prison with parole eligibility after 18 years. Police say Pugh killed McCoy outside a Hampshire House apartments on Fifth Street Southwest at 4:30 a.m. Pugh and McCoy both have criminal records that included prison terms in Ohio.

Email report denied

The president of a company that operates charter schools says he didn’t receive an email from a city school board member. At a school board meeting Tuesday, board President Lock P. Beachum Sr. was upset about what he said was an email received by John Q. Porter, president of Mosaica Turnaround Partners, from a board member.

Other board members said Anthony Catale sent the email. Catale, who did not attend the meeting, said later he didn’t send an email but contacted a Mosaica representative because he heard rumors that the company was going to convert city schools to charter schools. He said he wanted to determine if the rumors were true. In an email to the school district, Porter wrote that he hadn’t received an email from a board member.

Packard Music Hall Foundation raised $300 for the recent Warren Relay of Life and more than $600 for to help the foundation promote future events at the April 2 Local Musicians Rock fundraiser. Local rock bands Nelson Reep, The Mitrega Brothers and Shotgun Willy performed and brought in 501 people. The foundation is in talks for other local fundraising concerts and events, including another possible fall concert featuring both local and Pittsburgh- and Cleveland-based indie-rock bands, as well as a local film premiere for Warren native actor/filmmaker Ryan Bottiglieri’s feature film and directorial debut “Trim.” The film stars Academy Award nominee Bruce Dern.

$140K lottery winner

A city man is the latest winner in an Ohio Lottery online game. James W. Ladson won $140,000 for matching all five numbers in Saturday’s Rolling Cash 5 game. After mandatory federal and state taxes totaling 31 percent, Ladson will receive a check for $96,600. He purchased the ticket from A&S Market, 1520 Market St. He picked the numbers: 2-6-9-19-32. The market receives a $500 agent bonus for selling a five-of-five top-prize winning ticket.

Donate cans of food, get deal on propane

Columbiana

People who donate at least four cans of food can get a 20-pound propane cylinder filled for $10 today or Friday at Ohio Gas of Columbiana, 2705 state Route 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The food will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank of Mahoning Valley in Youngstown. Second Harvest distributes food to 153 hunger-relief organizations in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties.
