Firing of Tablack is an example of retribution for a job well done

Misuse of power is happen- ing in Mahoning County. Carol Rimedio-Righetti and John McNally released George Tablack from his duties as county administrator.

Tablack is a known expert in governmental management and finance. Released at a time when many important contracts are coming up. Released when his expertise would be invaluable. Released by a commissioner with no experience and one who is facing criminal indictment on numerous charges.

They tried to say they did this to make government more visible. George Tablack was always available at meetings and would answer all questions with responsible and correct replies. It’s a vendetta plain and simple. Pay back for Traficanti and Ludt who supported the acquisitions of the Renaissance Center, thereby taking the county out of the role of tenant to that of landlord. Stopping the flow of taxpayers’ money to the Cafaro Corp.

Tablack got the bond rating of the county upgraded, making it easier for the county to borrow and operate. Tablack always insisted on good management and sound accounting methods. He also visited schools and communities to answer questions and found solutions to fiscal problems and was appointed to serve on panels during fiscal emergency for schools having problems.

Dave Ludt and George Tablack are gone and now being targeted are Paul Gains and Anthony Traficanti, who have been champions for the county. It is a shame the taxpayers are going to go through what these two commissioners are planning. Surely they will bankrupt the county.

Good luck in replacing Tablack

I received the shock of my life when I opened The Vindicator and read “Tablack is out.”

I have known the entire Tablack family for many years and would give them the middle name Integrity.

The powers that be will be hard pressed to find his replacement. I’m sorry for the taxpayers’ loss.
