US Attorney warns of growing child-porn problem

COLUMBUS (AP) — A U.S. Attorney says child pornography is a growing problem fueled by the Internet and is encouraging parents to talk to children about computers and their online presence.

Carter Stewart, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio, said today that society cannot prosecute its way out of child porn because the number of perpetrators has grown so vast.

Stewart says children being exploited by child pornographers are younger than ever and being placed in more violent situations.

Stewart says parents should set time aside to talk to their children about ways to protect themselves.

Stewart made his comments as he announced a Justice Department award for Franklin County’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
