Local organizations will place flags Saturday by graves of deceased U.S. military veterans buried in Poland Riverside Cemetery, 110 Riverside Drive.
The event, organized by American Legion Mahoning Valley Squadron 15, Sons of the American Legion Mahoning Valley Squadron 15 and the local Boy Scouts, begins at 9 a.m. Those looking to help should meet the organization behind the cemetery’s chapel at 8:55 a.m.
On Memorial Day, the organizations are looking for motorcyclists and children to decorate their bicycles for the parade, which begins at 9 a.m. at the American Legion’s local post at 35 Cortland St.
In case of inclement weather, ceremonies will be in the Poland Middle School gymnasium, 47 College St.
Cleanup event set
WARREN
The Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership, in collaboration with Community Concerned Citizens, Southwest Side Neighborhood Association, Nick Hornbeck Construction and Warren Weed and Seed will have a cleanup/board-up event at 9 a.m. Saturday.
The groups ask for volunteers to meet at Quimby Park, Austin Avenue. There will also be a community cookout for volunteers at noon at Quimby Park after the cleanup.
The “Warren Vacant Property Survey,” conducted by Mahoning Valley Organizing Collaborative, said the southwest side has the majority of the vacant structures in the city.
In March, the Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership addressed more than 43 properties and garnered 120 volunteers on the northwest side.
Giant tent sale planned

On Saturday, the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, 480 Youngstown-Poland Road, will be have its third anniversary celebration with a giant tent sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Featured in this sale are a number of Atari 2600 and Nintendo 64 gaming systems and games. There will also be a large selection of stereo speakers along with new floor and wall tile.
Other items offered at discount pricing include 27-inch televisions with remote controls, good used furniture, building materials, appliances, home d cor, games, toys, luggage, lamps and much more.
Refreshments will be served.
The ReStore’s regular hours are Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
