Casey Anthony trial starts in Orlando, Fla.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — The trial of a Florida mother charged with killing her toddler has started in Orlando.

Circuit Judge Belvin Perry called the court to order around 9 a.m. today in Casey Anthony’s first-degree murder trial.

Anthony is charged with killing her 2-year-old daughter. She has pleaded not guilty and says a babysitter kidnapped Caylee Anthony.

The trial has attracted national attention, and dozens of people lined up in the early morning hours to be one of the few spectators allowed into the courtroom. One spectator, Brett Schulman, says he arrived at the Orlando courthouse at 4 a.m.

The trial is expected to last from six to eight weeks. Jurors were picked from Pinellas County on the Gulf Coast and transported to Orlando where they are being sequestered during the trial.
