Man suffers heart attack at Covelli

YOUNGSTOWN

One man attending a concert at the Covelli Centre on Sunday missed the show but likely is happy to just be alive.

Steve Dunn, director of security, said roughly 5,000 people were in attendance for a Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ Top concert when a 70-year-old man suffered a heart attack and had to be revived and rushed to St. Elizabeth Health Center.

According to Dunn, spectators were finding their seats just prior to the concert when word came in that the man had collapsed.

“A couple of my guys went over to see what happened and said the man was turning blue. Lane Ambulance got to him almost immediately, put the defibrillator on him and brought him back,” said Dunn.

The man was rushed to the hospital but could be heard asking about seeing the show after he had been loaded into the emergency vehicle, Dunn said.

There is no word on the man’s condition.
